Nearly 70% of clothing is made of plastic. Due to the poor quality of the fabrics, plastic microfibers detach from the clothing during manufacturing, washing and wearing. In addition, on average, clothing is often discarded after only 7 washes. This makes the textile industry the largest microplastic polluter (35%) of the ocean.
To stop fiber loss from clothing, big steps need to be taken by the clothing industry and legislation. With your support we will speak to the garment industry and government, show the effect of plastic on our health and tackle plastic pollution at the source.
