Nearly 70% of clothing is made of plastic. Due to the poor quality of the fabrics, plastic microfibers detach from the clothing during manufacturing, washing and wearing. In addition, on average, clothing is often discarded after only 7 washes. This makes the textile industry the largest microplastic polluter (35%) of the ocean.
Both manufacturers and the government must take action to combat plastic pollution from clothing. But you too can do something. By making conscious choices when buying and washing your clothes, you can reduce the amount of microplastic your clothes lose. Want to know how? Get the free guide and read our tips.
